Spend As Much As You Can

Spend As Much As You Can

Scarcity sucks.

Really, it sucks you dry of money, time, energy and ultimately life.
It is so easy to fall into it’s traps and therefore sabotage your ability to get what you want.

I reacently noticed how this nasty little bug sneaks into our business, and wanted to offer a better perspective.

There are three things (probably more) that are generally topics we approach with a “save” mentality. That is, we are generally trying to pay as little as possible, or minimize our spend on these things.

Be careful not to get caught thinking this is wrong, if your knee jerk reaction is to dismiss what I AM about to say, its a sign of scarcity.

1. Taxes: My goal is to pay as much in taxes as possible….
2. Advertising: My goal is to spend ten times more money on advertising if possible
3. Info product and education: If I can figure out how to spend $10,000 a month on more internet marketing and self development products, I want to do it. And if I can figure out how to do that, I want to spend $20,000
4. (an extra ?) Payroll: I want to figure out how to hire, employ and pay as many people as possible. How can I pay more people to do more work for me, how can I pay more affiliates more commissions, etc?
5. (I knew there were more) Life insurance: buy as much as you can… this one I won’t go into detail, but think about it and examine what banks do… (just a clue)
First things first. Let’s look at our reactions and perspective. After thinking this way, your mindset changes a little bit. Try asking these questions.

1. How can I pay 10 times more in income tax this year?
2. How can I spend 10 times as much on advertising this month?
3. How can I spend 10 times as much money on education, training, and consulting, and mastermind groups?
4. How can I spend 10 times more money on pay roll?
5. How can I pay my affiliates, and consultants ten times more money?

Now you may have any number of thoughts, agreeing with me or calling me a complete moron…
Either way, here is my point.

I want to spend 10 times more money on all these things, AT AN OPTIMIZED RATE.
That was the only thing I left out. I don’t ever want to spend one penny more than the absolute minimum amount of taxes I can pay relative to the income. But I would like ten times more income and therefore ten times more taxes.

By the same token, I don’t think wandering around all day saying, how can I pay ten times more taxes is going to be the greatest motivator to make ten times more money, but you get the idea.

It is about breaking the pattern of thinking that leads you to self-sabotage.

A productive example of this is advertising. I never ever want to pay more than the minimum amount per click, to get my ad displayed and clicked on by the right person, on pay per click for example. But, if I could find ten times more people who would visit my site or sales funnels and would convert to opt ins and sales, of course I want to do that. If I have campaigns set up where every time I spend a dollar, I get back $2.00 how many more dollars should I try to spend?

Well as many as I can.

Hope this helps you.
P.S. The key to all of this is probably the education one. If you can figure that out, you’ll be able to 10 x all the other stuff. In fact, it is the only way to spend 10 X on anything else that is productive for you, and do it in an optimized cash flowing way.

Byron's Bay… A little inspiration

11:20 PM, Thursday: Surfer’s Paradise Marriott, Queensland, Australia.

Today was a journal worthy day. One of the best ever.
Sometimes you stumble upon places that you never expected to find and that totally surprize you. We went up to Byron’s Bay to see a light house and for a possible sky diving excursion. We found out two things:

1- Byron’s Bay has awesome surfing, so skydiving was really pointless (and we didn’t even go see the light house)
2- Sky Diving was already booked by the time we got there so no go really.

Anyway, I had an amazing day, and just wanted to make an entry of it. Below is part of a letter to a friend, written about today that I think may be inspirational for anyone who is an entrepreneur, striving for a dream.

“Friend,

It is about 10:45PM my time.
Amazing day today. One of those days that reminds you why you
are working so hard to build
a business like this.

We discovered an incredible place, ( a new favorite)
called Byron’s Bay.

It is one of the best surfing spots I have ever found.
I got to have one of those awesome, sunset surfing times, that
was even better because I was with my brother. Really cool
to have your 16 year old kid brother be your best friend at times, and to finally get to go.

I bought a book called the world almanac to surfing, which I think you’ll love
when I show it to you. My new goal is to go on a trip to every one of those places
and surf. At least the cool ones, I’m not sure if the England and cold ones are too appealing.

Anyway, I know this has been a long process, but I just wanted to write that to you
as a reminder as to why we do this.

None of this would be possible if it weren’t for internet marketing.

And taking trips or surfing in the grand scheme of things don’t really matter.
But family does, in a big way. And being able to spend that time has been very
important to me, and I know that it has to you.

I am sure that the change in income for you over the last year has been a big one,
but you have probably had huge gains in relational capital with your daughter… (whose first year or so of life you missed, while you were cooped up in an office.)

I am sure there is no price you can put on having spent that extra time with her and just having had the opportunity to be there.

We’re going to make it. This is actually about to work and I am super excited.
I guess I am just trying to say not to forget the ways we’ve already been paid,
as a result of deciding to be entrepreneurs, and virtual, home based ones at that.”

To all those who have a dream, keep it alive.

Andrew
